What is Rose Online?

ROSE Online, or Rush On Seven Episodes Online,is an MMORPG which was created by Korean company Triggersoft and was published by Gravity Corp.. The game has also been called ROSE Online Evolution since an update which took place in 2006.

Story

The seven planets of the world of ROSE Online were created by the goddess Arua. However, Hebarn, the god of malice, took over the seventh planet and renamed it after himself.

To protect the other planets from Hebarn, Arua created the Visitors and sent them to Junon, the first planet.

The seven planets are: Junon, Luna, Eldeon, Orlo/Oro, Skaaj, Karkia, Hebarn (the last 3 planets are still in development).

Gameplay

Gameplay is a free roaming typical level-up based MMORPG. You fight monsters, level up, obtain new skills and equipment to better yourself for upcoming battles. You can travel to different planets and explore new environments as well as battle other players and declare wars against other clans and guilds. The game features its own in-game economy which is directly controlled by players. Supply and demand can change each day so it is up to the player to seize the opportunity. You can obtain one of 4 branches of jobs at level 10, and 2nd Advanced jobs at level 100. The max level currently is 210. At level 210 you do not get experience but you are able to refine [upgrade] your weapons and armor to increase your power for Player vs Player.

In addition to leveling through the method of acquiring experience points leading to a level after the defeat of a monster, a character may also aid their leveling experience with the use of Quests. Quests are initiated after speaking to a NPC. Some quests are given a time limit so the character must complete the quest to be eligible for a reward. A reward may be constituted of material items and is usually accompanied with an experience point reward. Rewards from quests are affected by the amount of charm a character has.

There are three types of items, to which the Inventory is divided: Equipment, items characters may wear on their bodies; Consumable which consists of consumable items that may recover HP, MP or Stamina, or perform an effect (i.e. dance, learn a skill, shoot fireworks, socket items), and Material which covers general miscellany, such as materials for crafting, gems, and ammunition for weapons that need them.

Tuning System

There are a total of 3 forms of transportation available in ROSE Online:

* Cart: The most basic form of transport-systems in ROSE Online. It has the ability to hold certain parts like the frame that allows you to hold different part-versions, containing, but not limited to engines that allow your cart to move faster the further they increase in quality and weapons that represent their respective character weapon-type (for instance a battle hammer representing a melee weapon type that is affected by strength). Parts can be bought from an NPC as well as Artisans can craft them (likely at a better quality level than the shops offer).
* Castle Gear: A giant mechanical robot, which the player drives. It is not used to get to places fast (as this is covered by the porpuse of a cart), but it is a very powerful weapon platform which can be enhanced into their owners preferences.
* Flying Vessel: Operated by NPCs and ferries players from planet to planet. To an extent, the flying vessel is a prop employed by the game as to create the illusion that the character has traveled or will travel a considerable distance, as the "trip" is accompanied with a post-rendered video of the ship in question traveling towards a planet.

Jobs

* 1st Job: Level 10
* 2nd Advanced Job: Level 100 (whereas it was at level 70 in an older version)

Visitor

This is the job everyone starts with. At level 10 you can start a quest to become a Muse, Soldier, Dealer, or Hawker. Visitors may remain Visitors as long as they like, but unfortunately cannot use any skills except the basic ones. Visitors start out with a basic set of armor (the Visitor Look), a feather in your hair (for males), a pink ribbon (for females), a Wooden Sword and 200 Zulie (currency of ROSE Online).

Muse

Muses use magic to attack enemies or heal/enchant fellow players. Muses use intelligence as their main stat. Muses use magic staffs or wands. When Muses reach level 100, they can choose a second job: Mage or Cleric.

* Mage

Mages are powerful spell casters who cast spells such as Meteorite Flow, Icy Hailstorm or Staff Stun. They are often used in parties as damage specialists. They can do a tremendous amount of damage when buffed. Mages do not only add points in Intelligence, but also in Strength so as to gain more attack power, defense, HP, and weight limit. Mage only use staff for close fighting.

* Cleric

Clerics are the supportive branch of Muses. Clerics focus on making their healing spells and enchantments[buffs] stronger and mostly dependent on parties to level, but if needed they can summon monsters to attack like an Elemental or a phantom sword, or can alternatively use summoning capsules. They are also the most versatile class in the whole game, some players put their stat points solely on intelligence, others may choose to put on some Strength in order to hold a shield, or some Sensibility to gain more attack power and to inflict more critical hits. The Cleric is currently one of the best in pvp when they get to high levels.

Soldier

Soldiers are melee/ranged fighters, who focus on offense or defense. Soldiers use strength as their main stat. They party with other classes and provoke enemies to form a mob of monsters for higher and faster exp gain. Soldiers use one-handed or two-handed swords, blunt weapons, spears, axes, and shields. Their second job form is either Knight or Champion.

* Knight

Knights are the defensive branch of Soldiers. Knights usually use one-handed weapons and shields and lure large groups of enemies and excel at defeating single enemies, "bosses," relying on their high defense to do it safely.

* Champion

Champions are the offensive branch of Soldiers. Champions usually use two-handed weapons such as axes, spears and two-handed swords. Champions excel at destroying many enemies at once, and the axe branch of skills is the one best trained in PvP. The spear and two-handed sword skill branches use strong area of effect (AoE) skills to kill multiple enemies at once.

Dealer

Dealers are the money-making class of ROSE. They typically use guns or launchers in combat, which use bullets and canon balls, because of that dealers could be rather expensive to level. Dealers are also skilled in crafting items. The dealers main stat is their concentration, mixed with sensibility. They can later change classes to become either an artisan (crafting) or bourgeois (money maker).

* Artisan

Artisans are the item making branch of Dealers. Artisans can craft equipment, carts and castle gears, and cut gems. Because most Artisans prefer to use as many crafting skills as possible instead of fighting skills, they often focus on speed to accommodate their high chance to inflict critical hits, which deal three times the normal attack damage. Artisans are most commonly seen using guns.

* Bourgeois

The Bourgeois are the money making branch of ROSE. The Bourgeois, or commonly referred to as Bourgs, focus on finding items and dealing damage. Bourgs are also known for their strong mercenary summons. Bourgs have gun skills which are especially suited for PvP or launcher skills which are better suited for PvM. Bourgs deal high damage to single enemies and have the greatest distance of fire. They are commonly played as characters who gather materials to make zulie.

Hawker

Hawkers are fast characters, and wear light armor. They base themselves on dexterity, which is their main statistic that supports damage and dodging. Hawkers use katars, dual weapons or bows. They can also hide, boost up their critical rate and attack speed and throw poison knives at their enemies. At level 100, Hawkers can become Scouts or Raiders.

* Scout

Hawkers who prefer using bows advance to the Scout job, effectively allowing the Hawker access to the Scout skill tree which consists of skills that are involved in the projection of arrows. One skill that is unique to the Scout is the ability to conjure a Hawk summon, which aids the Scout in the game by attacking the character's highlighted hostile target. The ability of this hawk is highly controversial. Scouts are also given active skills that increase their attack range, as well as dealing additional damage or ailments; all of these supports are of less effect than those of a cleric."The Strongest in Range"

* Raider

Hawkers who prefer katar or dual weapons advance to the Raider job, which allows them to access skills which mainly inflict damage. There is one skill unique to this job, stealth, which allows them to become neutral, so no player nor any monster can kill them.

Weapons

There are a variety of weapons to use in ROSE Online. The weapons aren't restricted by the player's job, but their level and a specific stat. Some weapons have "slots" in them, which allows the user to put a jewel or gem into it and increase certain stats. Dealers can craft their own gem into their weapons when they learn the skill. A variety of "melee" weapons, including Axes, Swords, Bows, Katars, and Spears, exist in the game, along with guns and launchers, and also "magic" weapons, including Wands and Staffs.

There are different rarities and forms of weapons and armor, their name are labeled in different colors:

* Yellow: A common version of a weapon. These can be crafted by Artisans.
* Blue: An uncommon version of a weapon that has boosted stats (Grand, Golden, Demon, Dark, Elven and Legend prefixes) or a lower level requirement (Saint prefix).
* Purple: These are very rare and special weapons. Unique weapons, easily detected by their purple names, are weapons with no level requirement and only require fairly large amounts of their weapon type's significant stat, usually ranging from 150~200. Regardless of their name, unique weapons aren't unique, but very rare. Each unique weapon gives a fixed bonus of their own, usually a very substantial advantage. Unique weapons are never prefixed.

Gems & Sockets

Gems are a highly sought after material in ROSE Online. A Gem possess powerful stats that will make its wielder more powerful. Each Gem has 7 different grades, each grade is bigger and gives a more powerful stat, Gems can be created by Artisans with the Gem Cutting skill and rare drops from a monster (low-grade gems only).

Sockets can be created using rare items called Drills: drills can create sockets in weapons, jewelry and chest armor. Once a Gem has been placed in the socket it cannot be removed.
